Renaud La Joie, PhD
Dr. Renaud La Joie originally trained in Neuroscience, Neuropsychology, and Neuroimaging in France before moving to UC Berkeley as a visiting scholar. He then joined UCSF as a post-doctoral fellow in 2016 and transitioned to an assistant professor position within the department of Neurology in 2021. He is the co-lead of the neuroimaging core for the UCSF Alzheimer's Disease Reseach Center and is also part of the Global Brain Health Institute faculty.
Dr La Joie's reseach combines multimodal neuroimaging techniques, fluid biomarkers, and neuropsychological measures to study the natural history of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. His overarching goal is to understand the drivers of clinical heterogeneity and improve our ability to provide patients with a precise diagnosis and prognosis. He has established strong collaborations with neuropathologists to help bridge in vivo and post-mortem measures of brain pathology and guide a rigorous interpretation of biomarker data.
