Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Simons Foundation name Michael Fischbach as a Faculty Scholar, lending recognition and support for his groundbreaking work on the human microbiome.

Michael is also a recipient of the 2016 NIH Director’s Pioneer Award, which targets researchers of exceptional creativity who propose highly innovative research. This award will support Michael’s proposal to create a “complete map of the top 100 molecules from the gut microbiome”.
