BCHSI Honors and Presentations at 2024 AMIA Annual Symposium

We are excited to share that several Bakar affiliated faculty, postdocs and staff will be presenting at AMIA 2024 Annual Symposium in November. We are also proud to announce that several of our community members are receiving high honors and recognition at this year's conference.
Here are some highlights below:
- Atul Butte, MD, PhD, FACMI, will be awarded Morris F. Collen Award of Excellence by the he American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI) - its highest honor.
- Marina Sirota, PhD, and Urmimala Sarkar, MD, MPH, will be inducted into the American College of Medical Informatics at a ceremonial dinner.
- Alice Tang, PhD, will be awarded First Prize in AMIA Edward H. Shortliffe Doctoral Dissertation Award Selection Competition for her dissertation titled "Leveraging Clinical Data and Knowledge Networks to Derive Insights Into Alzheimer's Disease."
- Chris Williams, MB - presentation title: "Evaluating Large Language Models for Drafting Emergency Department Discharge Summaries" and "Utilizing GPT-4 to determine reasons for missed follow-up colonoscopy following abnormal non-invasive colorectal cancer screening"
- Grace Ramey (Capra Lab) presentation title: "External Validation of a Clinically Validated Machine Learning Model to Identify and Prevent Acute Care During Cancer Radiotherapy and Chemoradiation."
- Marianna Elia (Hong Lab) poster title: “Exposure to autoimmune disorders increases Alzheimer’s disease risk in a multi-site electronic health record analysis”
